Canada's Safety Regulation Standard requires all employers to provide employees with up-to-date information about chemical hazards in the workplace.
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is Canada’s national workplace hazard communication standard. It is equivalent to the OSHA Right-To-Know labeling system. It works with the federal, provincial and territorial governments to prevent trade barriers between provinces caused by varying hazard communication systems.
A WHMIS label can take on multiple forms, many of which can be produced with a DuraLabel printer. Mark hazardous material with a sign, stamp, sticker, seal, ticket, tag or wrapper. Labels can be attached, imprinted or stenciled on the chemical container. All labels require at least the following:

Information for the safe handling of the product

Statement that a material safety data sheet is available

WHMIS hazard symbols or other pictograms
The WHMIS requires that Material Safety Data Sheets be organized into nine consistent sections with specific headings for each section. Although the sections and the layout vary from the United States’ OSHA versions, the information relayed is similar. The sections include:
